VIBCO Vibrators Is Named As A Winner of the Managing Automation 2009 Progressive Manufacturing 100 Awards

VIBCO Vibrators will be honored at the Progressive Manufacturing Awards Gala June 11, 2009 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Sarasota, Florida. VIBCO was selected as a winner of the fifth annual Progressive Manufacturing 100 Awards, selected by Managing Automation Media, a Thomas Publishing Company, LLC publication. VIBCO designs, manufacturers and markets a comprehensive range of electric, pneumatic and hydraulic vibrators for construction and industrial use.

“We’re excited to be recognized for our lean revolution,” says Karl Wadensten, VIBCO President. “Everybody here has a real passion for lean and the whole VIBCO Vibration Nation team is unbelievable. We call it ‘Learning to See’ . That means that each person here is learning to recognize and eliminate waste wherever it lives. Sometimes it is small thing that saves a few minutes each day – one employee simply cut off the unused end of a monkey wrench so she didn’t have to flip the tool over to find the right fit. Sometimes it’s a big thing like creating a new program that reduces set-up times on an expensive machine. The important thing is that each and every team member has learned to see waste and now has a tool kit for eliminating it.”

VIBCO trains its entire workforce in lean methodologies and is actively identifying and eliminating waste through improvement projects. All facets of the organization are affected: machining, assembly, shipping and receiving, marketing, sales, customer service, engineering, purchasing, finance and supply chain. Some key achievements include:

• Setup time on CNC equipment reduced from 2.5 hours to 10 minutes
• Ontime delivery is now 99% same day, next day shipping
• Quality improved 80%
• Productivity increase in selected work cells as much as 300%
• Inventory reduced by 40% (over $1,000,000) over 2 years
• Work in Progress (WIP) inventory turning 88 times per year

“In the face of one of the worst economic downturns in history, these winning companies dramatically underscore how the manufacturing industry will not only get through this period but emerge in an even stronger position once a recovery takes hold,” said David R. Brousell, Editor-in-Chief of Managing Automation Media. “The projects that enabled these companies to become PM100 winners reflect great creativity and inventiveness, a determined willingness to take risk, and an enduring resilience to continually improve every aspect of their business. These companies are leading the way to a better future for all industry.”

An independent judging panel chaired by David R. Brousell, Editor-in-Chief, Managing Automation Media, and Jeff Moad, Executive Editor, Managing Automation, reviewed project nominations. Judges included: • Lisa Bodell, CEO, FutureThink• Tim Hanley, Vice Chairman and U.S. Process & Industrial Products Leader, Deloitte & Touche LLP• Brad Heath, President, VirTex Assembly Services, Inc. Increase sales and build customer loyalty with VIBCO

Let's face it. Budgets are tight and increased cost controls are wreaking havoc on your business. Customers are "shopping around" and it's difficult to maintain your key sales relationships. So how can you keep more customers calling you and only you?

Give them exceptional service that consistently solves their problems and keeps your name top-of-mind. Here's a recent example of how VIBCO helps our dealers and distributors to do just that...

The Situation.
A sandblasting contractor was having trouble with extremely slow material flow though the shallow hoppers on a sand and paint chip recovery truck. They tried everything – bondo on the hopper corners, brooms, shovels... you name it. Their dealer saw the problem and recommended installing VIBCO vibrators. Happy to have a solution, the contractor made the purchase.

VIBCO received a desperate call from the dealer – his customer installed the vibrators and was still having flow problems! They needed help and they needed it fast…

VIBCO's Solution.
The VIBCO technical support team jumped into action and within 48 hours had a VIBCO field technician at the contractor’s location to provide free, on-site assistance. After examining the installation and equipment, he quickly determined that the vibrators weren’t in the optimal position. The technician worked with the contractor to reposition his vibrators to get maximum effect. Take a virtual tour of the installation site. The next time a customer needs material to flow, bring along VIBCO! We'll recommend the right vibrators for the job and show you and your customer how to install them for maximum effect.

The Result.
Repositioning the vibrators (see photo) immediately and significantly improved material flow. The contractor was very happy with the results - they had tried everything and finally had a solution that really worked!

The VIBCO Story.
Solving your customers’ problems is VIBCO's top priority. We will stop at nothing to make sure that your customers are happy with our product’s quality and performance. We have decades of experience engineering vibration solutions. That means that you and your customers get the most effective, most efficient, best performing vibrators on the market.
Bring us with you on your next customer visit to see how a VIBCO expert can help you increase sales.

VIBCO Vibrators introduces Virtual Van Visits for installation & technical support

VIBCO Vibrators introduces a new Virtual Van Visit program to provide customers with improved installation and technical support assistance. The Virtual Van Visits are offered free of charge.

"We have a long tradition of helping our customers select and properly mount our vibrators," says Karl Wadensten, VIBCO President. "For years, we've had a fleet of sales and training vans travelling across the country. The VIBCO field team does a great job of getting out there and helping our customers. But the reality is that VIBCO products are sold all over the world, and we needed a better, faster way to personally help each and every one of our customers."

So VIBCO found a way to do just that. They came up with a way to get a first hand look at a customer's vibrator application and show them exactly how to install a new vibrator or how to improve upon an existing installation. VIBCO asks the customer to send a digital photo and a few key pieces of information - what material is being vibrated, how much it weighs, what type of power supply is available, etc.

"It's great to be able to help our customers get the information they need quickly," says Josh Sawtelle, the creator of VIBCO's Virtual Van Visit program. "Once we have a photo, we generally can get back to the customer within just a few hours. So far the feedback from customers has been overwhelmingly positive... they love the easy to read format and the fast turnaround!"

VIBCO Vibrators has long offered customers and end users 24-hour technical support assistance and will continue to do so. Offering no charge Virtual Van Visits is just one more way that VIBCO continues to set the standard for customer service excellence in the vibration industry. Other recent customer service enhancements include the extention of VIBCO's regular customer service hours now from 7:30am to 8:00pm, Eastern Time.

VIBCO Vibrators helps ReadyMix batch plants operate more efficiently, produce consistent batches

VIBCO 55-2 Pneumatic Piston Vibrators are mounted to hopper walls to increase flow efficiency and produce more consistent weigh batches.

A readymix concrete batch plant was experiencing significant production and operational delays due to cement hanging up on the sides of the hopper. The hangups caused incorrect amounts of cement to be dispensed which resulted in inconsistent batches.

In addition to the production delays caused by the need to manually check and correct each batch, product inconsistency negatively affected customer satisfaction. After installing VIBCO Piston Vibrators, the batch plant had no more issues with batch consistency, so production went up along with customer satisfaction.

VIBCO 55-2 Pneumatic Piston Vibrators feature a dependable, one-piece design and can move up to 10,000 lbs of material in a bin. They produce 5,500 vibrations per minute (VPM) and consume 15 CFM at 80 PSI.

VIBCO manufactures a complete line of vibrators for the concrete industry and offers free, 24 hour per day, expert vibration support for sizing, selection and placement of readymix and concrete vibrators. Fee-based on-site consultation and engineering support is also available.

VIBCO Vibrators Eliminate Clogging, Production Downtime At Cheese Manufacturer

VIBCO BVS-190 Silent Pneumatic Turbine Vibrators vibrate hopper discharge chutes and walls to keep cheese flowing.

A cheese producer had a costly production problem. Cheese built up and stuck to the hopper walls, causing clogs and stopping the flow through the discharge chutes. The production line would shut down and employees had to climb up on the equipment to clear the problem - usually by using hammers to bang on the hopper walls. Once they cleared the clogs, employees needed to resterilize the entire area to prevent contamination. This resulted in a significant amount of wasted product and lost production time.

In addition to the wasted time and product, hammering on the hopper walls caused the development of "hammer rash" - small dents and divots in the hopper wall - which in turn caused the sticking and clogging to occur more frequently, further compounding production problems and comprimising the equipment longevity, too!

A VIBCO vibration expert examined the situation and recommended mounting BVS-190 Silent Pneumatic Turbine Vibrators to the hopper at the discharge chutes. The vibration kept the cheese flowing through the chutes and transferred to the hopper walls to eliminate the sticking problem.
VIBCO BVS-190 Pneumatic Turbine Vibrators are prelubricated for life and, at just 67 dB, offer virtually silent operation. They produce 75 lbs of force and 10,500 vibrations per minute (VPM), and consume just 5.5 CFM at 80 PSI.

VIBCO manufactures a complete line of vibrators for the food industry, including sanitary and wash-down safe models. VIBCO offers free, 24 hour per day, expert vibration support for sizing, selection and placement of vibrators.
