VIBCO Vibrators introduces a new Virtual Van Visit program to provide customers with improved installation and technical support assistance. The Virtual Van Visits are offered free of charge.

"We have a long tradition of helping our customers select and properly mount our vibrators," says Karl Wadensten, VIBCO President. "For years, we've had a fleet of sales and training vans travelling across the country. The VIBCO field team does a great job of getting out there and helping our customers. A readymix concrete batch plant was experiencing significant production and operational delays due to cement hanging up on the sides of the hopper. The hangups caused incorrect amounts of cement to be dispensed which resulted in inconsistent batches.

VIBCO Vibrators Eliminate Clogging, Production Downtime At Cheese Manufacturer

VIBCO BVS-190 Silent Pneumatic Turbine Vibrators vibrate hopper discharge chutes and walls to keep cheese flowing.

A cheese producer had a costly production problem. Cheese built up and stuck to the hopper walls, causing clogs and stopping the flow through the discharge chutes. The production line would shut down and employees had to climb up on the equipment to clear the problem - usually by using hammers to bang on the hopper walls. Once they cleared the clogs, employees needed to resterilize the entire area to prevent contamination. This resulted in a significant amount of wasted product and lost production time.

In addition to the wasted time and product, hammering on the hopper walls caused the development of "hammer rash" - small dents and divots in the hopper wall - which in turn caused the sticking and clogging to occur more frequently, further compounding production problems and comprimising the equipment longevity, too!

VIBCO External Concrete Form Vibrators Ensure Excellent Quality & Finish

VIBCO SVRL-6500 High Frequency Pneumatic Vibrators vibrate precast bridge form sections to produce superior concrete strength and quality.

An equipment dealer for a large precast concrete company contacted VIBCO. The precaster was preparing to pour very large bridge form sections and needed assistance with the selection and placement of external concrete form vibrators. The strength and finish of the concrete needed to be perfect - with absolutely no defects requiring parging, patching or cutting.

A VIBCO Vibrators concrete vibration expert visited the precaster's location to examine the forms. He determined that VIBCO SVRL-6500 High Frequency Virbators were best for the job. He also instructed the precaster on the proper locations and vibration durations to get the best finish.

The result was perfectly formed concrete bridge sections that required no hand finishing. The general contractor for the bridge project was completely satisfied with the product and indicated that he would contact the precaster for future work.

“Running those vibrators was like the first time I got air conditioning in my car… a breath of fresh air. In fact, next summer I’d rather have my AC break down than those vibrators… I can always open a window!” says Joel Gibbs, owner of West Georgia Shavings.

West Georgia Shavings, Inc. manufactures premium, dried pine wood shavings for use as animal bedding. The product is sold in bulk and delivered by the trailerload in a converted spreader truck. Using the spreader truck keeps the material dry, clean and in perfect condition, but it can also result in a serious material bridging problem, as shown in photo 1.

The bridging was so compacted that it was strong enough to support the weight of a 250-pound operator climbing up onto the load to poke holes into the material with a broom handle to break the bridge. It was a dangerous, inefficient and messy way to solve the bridging problem and still resulted in an hour-long unloading process.

Joel Gibbs and Blake Keener, the owners of West Georgia Shavings, had seen VIBCO DC-3500 Big Bertha Vibrators mounted onto dump trailers at a recent visit to CMF Motorsports of Douglasville, GA. They wondered if dump truck vibrators could help to solve their bridging problem, so they contacted CMF to learn more.

CMF Motorsports contacted VIBCO Vibrators and explained West Georgia Shavings’ bridging problem to a VIBCO applications engineer. The engineer, knowing that wood shavings can be a difficult material to move, arranged for Carl Patton, VIBCO’s Southeast Regional Sales Manager, to make a site visit to West Georgia Shavings to get a first-hand look at the material and the problem. Because wood shavings can be tricky to move, Patton recommended that West Georgia Shavings take advantage of VIBCO’s Free 10-day trial program to make sure that everyone was happy with the recommended solution before committing to the purchase. Gibbs and Keener readily agreed to the free trial and contracted CMF Motorsports to perform the installation.

Per VIBCO’s recommendation, CMF Motorsports installed two VIBCO DC-1600 Vibrators onto one side of the West Georgia Shavings spreader truck, as shown in photo 2 and photo 3.

When asked about his satisfaction with the performance of the VIBCO Vibrators, Joel Gibbs stated, “Running those vibrators was like the first time I got air conditioning in my car… a breath of fresh air. West Georgia Shavings reports that, prior to installing the VIBCO
DC-1600 vibrators, unloading took about an hour and was a labor-intensive and dangerous process. That time is now cut to just over 20 minutes… a 66% reduction in unloading time. Considering the labor savings alone (at an average $15/hr, 4 loads per day), that amounts to savings of $40/day, or $200/week, or $10,400/year. And because the truck needs to be running during the entire unloading process, West Georgia Shavings is saving a tremendous amount of money on fuel, as well.

VIBCO Revolutionizes the Production of Vibrating Tables to Reduce Lead Times

WYOMING, RI - February 4, 2008. Vibrating tables are often critical components of production and product testing systems. VIBCO US-TT vibrating tables are now available to ship same or next day (vs. 2-4 weeks) and US-RD vibrating tables will ship within 10 business days (vs. 4-6 weeks). VIBCO manufactures a complete line of standard vibrating tables with an excellent reputation for quality and durability.

VIBCO ships its standard vibrators same or next day, but until recently vibrating tables were an exception, largely because of sophisticated engineering and a complex fabrication process. The result was long lead times - from 2 to 6 weeks, depending on table style and size.

The foundation of VIBCO's lean manufacturing effort is a company-wide mission to focus entirely on the voice of the customer. The table manufacturing team, led by David Waldeck, Fabrication Shop Supervisor, accepted the challenge of meeting customers' demands for shorter lead times for vibrating tables. Prior to the fabrication team's efforts, the lead time for standard VIBCO US-TT vibrating tables was 2-4 weeks and US-RD tables' lead time was 4-6 weeks. The VIBCO table team held a Kaizen (change for the better) event to examine their processes to find ways to dramatically reduce those lead times.

The Kaizen event included all members of the fabrication team, selected members of other production teams, and selected members of the engineering and administration teams. They examined the table fabrication process with the goal of finding faster, more efficient ways of completing the table manufacturing process. The event resulted in a 70% reduction in lead time with an increase in product quality and craftsmanship. The reduction was accomplished by removing muda (waste) from the process via improved build sequencing, location and availability of tools and materials, presentation and availability of raw materials from suppliers, and improved communication between administration, engineering, and the table fabrication team.

A VIBCO Vibrators application engineer received an urgent call from a concrete flatwork producer. His product had serious blemishes and imperfections caused by oil leaking out of the ball vibrator originally supplied with a vibrating screed. The resulting quality issues caused a tremendous amount of rework and a noticeable drop in customer referrals. In addition to the quality problems, the concrete flatwork producer received noise complaints from employees and neighbors and consequently needed a low-noise solution.

The VIBCO Vibrators application engineer recommended a VS-510 Silent Pneumatic Turbine Vibrator. The VIBCO VS-510 is a lubricant-free, low-noise vibrator that produces a hefty 940 lbs of force, but only 77 dB on A-Scale at 1 meter at 80 PSI. The VS-510 produces 4,500 vibrations per minute (VPM) and consumes 21 CFM at 80 PSI.

NEED TO REDUCE WORKPLACE NOISE LEVELS?

Noise induced hearing loss (NIHL) is a significant, prevalent, and expensive industrial disease. According to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, about 30,000,000

workers are exposed to potentially damaging noise in the workplace each year.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE VIBCO SILENT PNEUMATIC TURBINE VIBRATOR

In the late 1960’s, US automakers recognized the dangers and negative business impacts of high levels of workplace noise. One area they chose to focus on was the vibration equipment used in automotive metal stamping plants. So they challenged the vibration industry to come up with a quiet alternative to the extremely loud pneumatic ball vibrators used on chutes in these plants. However, while the automakers sought to eliminate unsafe vibrator noise, they needed a solution that produced the same force and frequency of ball vibrators to ensure consistent material flow. All of the major players

in the vibration industry immediately began working to solve the vibrator noise problem.

Ted Wadensten, founder of VIBCO Vibrators, was one vibration engineer who responded to the automakers’ challenge.

“We tried all kinds of crazy ideas to reduce the noise made by the ball in the race of the vibrator – but nothing worked. A ball vibrator’s engineering guarantees that there will always be a tremendous amount of noise produced, no matter what materials or configurations are used. So we decided to try something that had never been done before. We thought that off-set weighting a gear or some other spinning wheel might work. We never imagined just how on-target our idea was until we perfected the design and were able to produce the same frequency and force as the ball vibrator with almost zero noise!”

After perfecting the new quieter vibrator, Wadensten sought and was awarded a US Patent for the design of the VIBCO Silent Pneumatic Turbine Vibrator and VIBCO officially became the home of “The Silent Vibrator Guys!” What began as a challenge from a single industry translated into VIBCO’s enduring mission to design and produce the most effective and quietest vibrators on the market. That mission drives research and development efforts at VIBCO to this day and makes the reduction of workplace noise exposure a critical part of the company’s strategic vision.

NOISE IS A SERIOUS AND COSTLY OCCUPATIONAL HAZARD

The negative business impact of noise is significant. Direct costs of workers’ compensation claims and the expense of hearing conservation programs can be staggering. Some estimates indicate that hearing conservation programs alone cost US companies approximately $200-$250 per employee annually. Perhaps even more impactful, though, are the indirect costs of decreased productivity and low employee morale; increased absenteeism; and poor communication.

Industrial and construction vibrators are used by facilities and operations spanning more than 600 different SIC codes. While effective and often essential material flow aids, vibrators are frequently a major source of occupational noise exposure and hearing loss. Noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) is the permanent end result of repeated exposure to sounds that are both too intense and too long in duration.

Some characteristics of noise induced hearing loss include:

sensorineural hearing loss almost always caused by damage to hair cells in the inner ear that can not be repaired - all damage is permanent.
bilateral (affecting both ears) and symmetrical in nature
affects high and low audible frequency limits, but never produces profound hearing loss
hearing loss does not progress if exposure is discontinued
continuous exposure to noise is more damaging that intermittent exposure.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) views NIHL as a serious industrial hazard and has developed a set of regulations and aspects of a hearing conservation program. It is important to note that the single, most effective way to eliminate noise-induced hearing loss is to eliminate the sources of industrial noise whenever possible. Eliminating the source of the noise makes all other aspects of a hearing conservation program unnecessary.

REPLACING OLD VIBRATORS WITH VIBCO SILENT PNEUMATIC TURBINE VIBRATORS WILL REDUCE NOISE

Replacing old-style pneumatic ball vibrators and pneumatic piston vibrators with VIBCO Silent Pneumatic Turbine Vibrators is one way to eliminate a significant source of workplace noise. The chart below illustrates the noise production of VIBCO Silent Pneuamtic Turbine Vibrators compared to equivalent ball vibrators and piston vibrators. Notice that all VIBCO pneumatic turbines operate below the OSHA 80 dB noise threshold. Additionally, while VIBCO Pneumatic Turbines maintain 70-78 dBs throughout their entire product life, ball-style and piston-style vibrators will actually increase the volume of their noise output over time. In fact, ball vibrators’ noise sharply increases after just a short time in operation as the ball and race become pitted and worn from the ball “jumping” during each pass over the air inlet.

While VIBCO Silent Turbine Vibrators have a higher initial purchase price than comparable ball vibrators and piston vibrators, they cost less to operate and maintain. Maintenance costs are lower because VIBCO turbine vibrators are prelubricated for life, have lower air consumption, and require little or no maintenance throughout the product life. When operation and maintenance savings are added to reduced need for hearing conservation programs, the reduction in workers’ compensation claims and other noise-injury-associated costs, the installation and use of pneumatic turbine vibrators is an attractive, affordable and effective noise reduction solution.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT WORKPLACE NOISE

The technical criteria for exposure under the Hearing Conservation Amendment are:

80 dB threshold – sound levels lower than 80 dB are not to be considered in any exposure assessment
There is a 5 dB trading or exchange rate. OSHA assumes that the risk of hearing loss due to industrial noise exposure doubles with every 5 dB increase over an 8 hour workday.

An OSHA-compliant hearing conservation program must include:

Risk assessment to identify workers at risk for noise exposure
Elimination and/or reduction in the source(s) of qualifying noise
Regular audiometric monitoring and measuring of exposed workers’ hearing to identify changes
Provision of hearing protection devices to all exposed workers at no charge to employees
Education and training for all at-risk workers on the effects of noise on hearing, the hearing test procedure, and the benefits, limits, and types of hearing protection devices available
Documentation and appropriate record-keeping for all aspects of the program

Sound Advice—Protect Your Ears in Noisy Work Environments

Your job shouldn't cause you to lose your hearing. Yet for many people, such as construction workers, farmers, mechanics and factory workers, years of exposure to excessive noises on the job has lead to permanent hearing loss.

“Work-related hearing loss is one of the most common occupational diseases in the United States,” says Dr. Linda Rosenstock, director of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).

According to NIOSH, 30 million Americans are exposed to hazardous noise at work. This has resulted in a permanent hearing loss for about 10 million workers. If you are one of these people, you don't have to suffer hearing loss. Your supervisors can make changes to the equipment to eliminate or reduce noise. In many cases you can adjust your work schedule and job to avoid being around noisy equipment. Finally, when engineering or administrative controls can't eliminate your exposure to hazardous noise, you can wear hearing protection devices, such as ear plugs or ear muffs.

Now hear this...
Loud noises can cause hearing loss by damaging the delicate hair cells in the inner ear. Most of the time this damage happens gradually when prolonged exposure to loud sounds exhausts these hair cells, says Dr. Mark Stephenson, NIOSH audiologist. As noise levels increase, the tiny cilia at the top of the hair cells can be injured or broken off. Entire groups of these hair cells can even be torn away. Hair cells don't repair themselves. So when enough hair cells are damaged, a hearing loss results.

Sound is measured in decibels. A normal conversation takes place at about 60 decibels. A woodshop noise level is about 100 decibels, and a chainsaw noise measures about 110 decibels, according to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD). Prolonged exposure to noise above 85 decibels can cause hearing loss.

A short, intense sound—an explosion, for example— may cause immediate hearing loss. But usually hearing loss occurs gradually after prolonged exposure to loud noise. It may occur so gradually you may not even realize you are losing your hearing. Over time, sounds may simply become muffled or distorted.

Tinnitus, a ringing or roaring sound, sometimes described as the sound of crickets in one or both ears, can accompany both immediate and gradual hearing loss.

Tinnitus occurs when the damage to hair cells hasn't gotten to the point where they produce nothing, says Don Morgan, vice president of clinical research and medical affairs for Decibel Instruments, a Fremont, Calif.-based hearing aid research and manufacturing company. Rather, the hairs produce ongoing sounds because they are partially damaged. That is, they are constantly stimulated because they are irritated. The brain perceives this constant irritation as sound.

Hearing loss can be progressive if you continue exposing yourself to the same noise, Morgan says. Today you may have a minor or moderate hearing loss, but after further exposure, the loss may become more severe. However, once you stop the exposure, the hearing loss won't get worse.

Muffle the roar
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires employers to develop and implement a noise monitoring program when "information indicates that any employee's exposure may equal or exceed an 8-hour average exposure of 85 decibels." When this occurs, OSHA requires employers to notify employees, to establish and maintain a hearing test program, and to train workers how to prevent occupational hearing loss. When engineering controls have not yet eliminated hazardous noise, OSHA also requires employers to provide hearing protectors and ensure workers wear them.

Not every type of hearing protection is useful for every type of noise. Disposable foam earplugs may be fine for some noise exposure while earmuff-type protection may be suitable for another.

But hearing protection doesn't work if you don't use it. According to a University of Michigan study, construction workers said they wear ear plugs or ear muffs between 36 to 61 percent of the time when they are necessary. Not surprisingly, more than half believed they developed a hearing loss.

To see if you may be in an environment that could cause hearing loss, ask yourself the following questions:

Is the noise at my workplace so loud that I have to raise my voice significantly for someone an arm's length away to hear me?
When I leave work and am in a quieter environment, do my ears feel plugged? Or do I hear a mild ringing or whooshing noise that goes away after an hour or two?

If you answer yes to either of these questions, take some sound advice: Get your hearing tested and protect your ears.

1. Correct installation and mounting is critical to performance.
Make sure to follow all of the mounting and installation steps exactly as they are provided in the manual. One of the ways you can ensure a good mount is to select the correct mounting plate and channel for your bin. The following charts are good "rule of thumb" guides:

Kinks, holes and leaks in your air line can easily degrade the performance of your pneumatic vibration equipment, causing it to run and then stop unexpectedly. Your VIBCO pneumatic equipment's performance can also be degraded if your air line is split between units ("T" junction) or used to run multiple pneumatic units. Best practice is to run separate, correctly-sized lines for each unit in operation and to perform periodic checks for kinks, leaks and holes.

3. Correct air pressure (PSI) and air flow (CFM) are essential.
Make sure that you are providing your VIBCO pneumatic unit(s) with correct PSI and CFM. VIBCO pneumatic units have the recommended PSI and CFM indicated on the housing or on the shipping box. A general rule of thumb is that PSI should be 40-80, and you should consult your manual for proper CFM. Insufficient or too high air pressure flow can cause unit failures.

4. The welding, shimming and/or bolting of the vibration mount is problematic.
Mounting channel should be stitch-welded to the hopper or bin, with no welds on the corners of the channel. Welding on the corners of the channel can lead to bin damage and unit failure. All bolts should be tightened down securely to prevent slippage and all shims should be positioned to keep the mounting plate flat.

5. If your unit requires lubrication (piston and ball style), make sure that your lubricator is functioning correctly and is no more than 5 feet away from the vibration unit.
Too much distance between the lubricator and vibration equipment can cause too little or no lubrication to reach the unit - your lubricator should be no more than 5 feet away from the unit. For best results, VIBCO recommends using air tool oil. You may also use SAE 10 or lighter machine tool oil, Marvel Mystery oil, or automatic transmission oil.

1. Vibration equipment is drawing high amps and kicking the breaker.
2. Vibration equipment is burning out after just a short time in operation

Most frequently, these performance issues are caused by one of the following mounting "missteps." For complete instructions on how to mount VIBCO electric units, please refer to our online manual.

1. The electric vibration equipment is mounted directly to the bin or hopper rather than to a mounting plate and mounting channel.
Mounting directly to the bin or hopper can cause the bin or hopper to crack, can cause damage to the vibration equipment, and can cause a high amperage draw. It is critical for vibration equipment to be mounted to a plate and channel.

2. The electric vibration equipment is mounted to just a plate or just a channel.
It is extremely important to mount vibration equipment in the manner recommended by the manufacturer. Vibration, while an effective material flow aid, can be a destructive force if it is not isolated properly. Using a mounting plate alone, or a channel alone, may not be sufficient to secure and isolate the vibration force exerted by the equipment. For best results, use a channel iron and mounting plate together.

3. The electric vibration equipment has been mounted in an incorrect position.
Electric units should be mounted perpendicular to the channel iron and the mounting plate should be checked for warping and shimmed, if necessary, to achieve a tight seal. Any looseness or "give" will prevent the vibration force from being properly isolated. A sufficient length of channel should be used to distribute the force throughout the bin or hopper.

4. The welding, shimming and/or bolting of the vibration mount is problematic.
Mounting channel should be stitch-welded to the hopper or bin, with no welds on the corners of the channel. Welding on the corners of the channel can lead to bin damage and unit failure. All bolts should be tightened down securely to prevent slippage and all shims should be positioned to keep the mounting plate flat.

This is an interesting read about the use of internal vibrators for concrete consolidation and the potential problems associated with untrained labor using the equipment - bug holes, honeycombing and poor concrete strength are some of the more serious issues. http://www.precast.org/publications/mc/2006_marapr/technically_speaking.htm

VIBCO Vibrators is in the news again!

The March 2007 issue of Dry Cargo International featured a brief article (pg. 68) highlighting the use of vibration to fill and settle dry bulk contents for shipping. The full text of the article appears below. I've also included a short video (below the article text) of how VIBCO vibrating tables can help fill and settle dry contents.

Vibration technology facilitates more efficient filling
The use of vibrating conveyors in bulk transport means that producers no longer need to pay to ‘ship air’.

Vibco Vibrators has been designing and manufacturing vibration solutions for over 40 years, and its equipment improves process flow and maximizes production efficiency.

As fuel costs have risen, so has the cost of shipping. Producers need to be able to package and palletize products more efficiently. Recently, a beer stabilizer producer contacted Vibco for help settling and flattening the contents of its 50 lb bags of dry powdered product for palletizing and
shipping. Vibco designed a grid-top vibrating table to integrate into its existing roller conveyor system, and this resulted in a space saving of over 35%.

Overspill at filling stations is a major cause of product loss and increased clean up costs. A kitty-litter producer recently contacted Vibco for help with the filling station for its 30 lb buckets. It was experiencing a lot of overspill and wanted to integrate a vibrating table into its existing belt conveyor system. Vibco designed a flat-top vibrating table with two silent piston vibrators. Vibco’s unique, air-cushioned piston design significantly reduces the noise. The vibrators were
timed to operate with the filling cycle of the discharge chutes. The vibration completely depeaked the filled litter, virtually eliminating spillage, overfill and associated costs.

Vibrators are Everywhere!

The roads you drive, the bridges you cross, the food you eat, the water you drink, the house in which you live... chances are that vibrators have played an essential role in all of those.

"Wait a minute!" you might ask with a mischievous grin, "What the heck do vibrators have to do with those things?"

The simple answer? Vibrators aid material flow. Some of the most common applications are:

Concrete Production - to release trapped air to produce a high-quality, stronger product with little to no surface blemishes like "bug holes" and "honeycombing." Also, vibrators are used on the hoppers and chutes of Ready Mix trucks to keep the concrete flowing smoothly for faster, more consistent pours. If you ever see a guy raking slow-moving concrete down a chute, walk right up and tell him that he needs a vibrator!

Bins and Hopper Flow Assistance - bins and hoppers are used in just about every industry. You may not be aware, but material has a habit of clogging, bridging or sticking to the hopper sides - vibration releases the material and keeps it flowing smoothly, especially when the material is damp or sticky!

Screening Material - attaching a vibrator to a screen helps material to flow through the screen without clogging. Think about sifting flour - you need to shake, stir or agitate the flour to get it to sift properly!

Dump Trucks and Highway Equipment - Mulch, road salt and sand, dirt, fill, etc. all have a tendency to stick to the bed and sides of dump trucks and highway sanders. Instead of crude and destructive methods like tailgate slamming, truck operators can mount a vibrator to the underside of the dumpbody! It allows them to dump more loads per day and saves on repair costs and potential operator injury.

Concrete pumping was a frequent point of discussion today… Our giant flamed, vibrating concrete chute might have had something to do with that! The majority of the questions revolved around our recently redesigned DC-500 “Bulldog” model. The Bulldog vibrators run on DC 12 or 24 Volt power and are totally enclosed with a double-armored housing and o-ring seal to ensure that they stay watertight and hold up under continuous duty.

Internal vs. external vibrators was another topic that came up frequently today. We got a lot of questions about how results differ between the two. It seems that many more people are comfortable using internal vibrators, but aren’t particularly pleased with the amount of labor time required to use an internal correctly, or the amount of time spent hand-finishing to remove bug holes and honeycombing.

One funny note from the show floor today... in addition to the thousands of human attendees, there was one pigeon who seemed very interested in our neighbor's booth... Here's a pic:

The World of Concrete is truly an amazing show! Judging by how busy we were, and the how crowded the exhibit halls were, anyone who’s anyone in the concrete industry is here in Las Vegas this week.

One of the most popular topics of conversation continues to revolve around the creation of concrete countertops. It’s an industry and product that is rapidly gaining consumer acceptance as a high-end residential and commercial product. I had a chance to look at some examples of custom concrete countertops, and I was definitely awed by how beautiful they can be – particularly when crafted by a trained artisan.

The display at the Cheng Design & Concrete Exchange booth really highlighted how important quality training and supplies are. Vibrators were featured on an episode of The Discovery Channel's "Dirty Jobs". The episode "Mushroom Farmer" orginally aired on March 7, 2006 and was replayed last night.

In a segment at Lincoln Foundry in Erie, PA, the epidode shows vibrators settling and compacting sand as it is dispensed into molds for producing drain covers. The episode also features the use of a shaker table (vibrating table) for removing sand from the finished drains.

The episode is scheduled to air again on Saturday, December 30 at 9:00am, and on Tuesday, February 27 at 11:00pm.

WYOMING, RI NOVEMBER 14, 2006. VIBCO Vibrators announces the release of the new SANDBUSTER Model DC-60 Spreader Hopper Vibrator. The DC-60 features a new durable, injection-molded plastic housing. This housing was developed as an alternative to expensive steel and cast-iron housings that can become corroded when exposed to ice control chemicals and other corrosive materials. The new DC-60 plastic housing is non-corrosive and can be used in wash-down environments. The SANDBUSTER DC-60 is designed for use on tailgate spreaders with a capacity of up to 1 cubic yard. A 12-volt heavy-duty DC motor drives the vibrator, creating 60 lbs force and 3,600 vibrations per minute (VPM), with push-button operation from inside the cab.

The SANDBUSTER DC-60 Spreader Hopper Vibrator increases the efficiency and safety of road crews who spread ice control materials. The vibration of the SANDBUSTERTM keeps material flowing consistently from the hopper and provides better road coverage. Additionally, by maintaining more consistent material rates, the risk of clogs in the hopper is greatly reduced, keeping the crew safely in the cab. Overall truck downtime is reduced, along with maintenance costs otherwise incurred by manual clearing of the hopper.
